Well I am me, but to go into a little more detail I am a research chemist living in Dublin. When the mood takes me I work long hours and nothing helps kill that time like watching films. Nothing says good times like watching Goodfellows over your shoulder at midnight in a cold lab though it does help move the hours along.

I have decided that I will start giving my views on the films that I watch, I will try to keep it confined to movies that are new or at least newish and kind of not widely known. My tastes are not refined, I enjoy lots of different kinds of film, Iron Man and the superhero genre are a favourite of mine but I enjoy some arthouse films and the occasional drama or comedy. What you will see here are mainly the films released from Hollywood each week and what I think of them.

I don't think there is any point in giving a mark or grade for each film, films fall into three categories; watch this, watch this if/but and watch something else. It's not my place to try and lay out a pecking order but to give you an idea of what's out there and what they are like from my perspective.

Unfortunately my perspective is one that dislikes rapidly degenerate stories which you can tell after five minutes and make you wonder why the writer is being paid so much. Admittedly there are a limited number of story plots available to us and Shakespeare got a majority of them out in his works so everything is somewhat derivative but you can still give an interesting twist on an old chestnut such as Slumdog millionare or Unforgiven.
